Chasing a Goal: My First Steps Toward a Half Marathon

At one ✨beautiful✨ moment, I realized I needed a goal — something to give my training structure and purpose.

Why a Half Marathon?

The first idea that popped into my head was a half marathon. A full marathon? Way too much right now — mentally and physically. But a half marathon? That feels challenging, but doable. Something I can actually work toward without completely freaking out.

The Plan (and a Bit of Doubt)

I downloaded a new running app that created a personalized plan for me. It looks pretty intense at first glance, but not scary. Still, I can’t help but wonder — did the app overestimate me? Or did I underestimate myself?

Anyway, here’s what my next two months of training look like:

Discovering the “Easy Run”

This week, I had a small breakthrough: I discovered the easy run. Well… I’m still discovering it, to be honest. Running slowly is surprisingly hard. I always thought fast runs were the challenge — turns out, holding back and keeping my heart rate low is even tougher. Especially at the start, I have to constantly remind myself: slow down, breathe, pace it out.

A New Feeling: Enjoying the Long Run

For the first time, a 10K long run felt genuinely enjoyable. No exhaustion, no burnout. I even managed to add an extra kilometer and pick up the pace a little at the end. It felt… good.
